At The Vacuum Store we are asked on a regular basis if steam cleaning equipment is OK for their floors. Our answer for customers with wood floors is Ask Your Manufacturer. There are very few manufacturers that will tell you that steam is good for your wood floors no matter what the finish is. Over time it could and will damage them. Ceramic tile it is a good bet steam will do the job well. Vinyl, Linoleum, and any other type of material you should also check with your manufacturers. WE do hear about melted spots in floors from time to time. We also stress to our steam customers that you need to keep the steam pads clean. Otherwise you are spreading around yesterdays dirt on the floor and in the steamed air. So be an educated consumer with your types of flooring for cleaning.  One machine is not for all types of flooring no matter what the info commercials show you.
