TIME TO GET READY FOR WINTER

It is bad enough that we have all been indoors more with Covid 19 still very active. The cooler weather will have us inside more. NOW is a good time to get your vacuum ready for double duty with the extra use it will get. Get it cleaned and replace filters. Even though some are washable you can never get all the pollutants out of the filters. It is worth the money. After all it is your family’s health.

Cleaner Home Air

As COVID 19 continues on – it is more important than ever to keep cleaner household air. That requires changing your filters sooner than the recommended time. If you have a bagged unit upgrade the filtering media that the bag is made of. Bagless vacuums are the greater of the two for polluting the air with microscopic particles. Bagged vacuums are cleaner. Stay healthy!

NOW IS THE TIME

With a great deal of this country’s population staying around their house the vacuum is getting a work out. More than usual. Now is the time to make sure your filters are very clean or replaced. For bag-less you can only wash or clean them so many times and the fine particles of dirt are still in there. If you have a bagged vacuum (the best for hygiene) don’t overfill your bag and step up to micron or HEPA filtered bags. It makes a big difference and worth the cost. Please stay safe and healthy.

The winter months are very busy in the vacuum business world. Quite the opposite of most retailers. We can only attribute it to most of the country’s population is inside more when it is colder outside and we take notice of our flooring. Whatever the reason though, it is a great time to come in to get a really nice vacuum that is repairable in the future and not the usual “I am sorry there are not many parts available for that machine” that are found in big box stores or on TV.

The New Carpet!

“Wow! The new carpet is super soft and feels great under the toes! However–I can barley move the vacuum on it.” Says the customer. Today’s super silky carpets are a challenge for vacuums. They will need a soft carpet machine with even higher height settings and a special bottom plate. Before you buy your new carpet take a sample home and try your vacuum first. If you just have to have the new silk type carpets or the ultra soft come on in we have vacuums that meet that challenge.

Not All Plastics Are The Same.

We have heard through the years our fair share of customers commenting that “Plastic is Plastic-right?” NO–all plastics are not the same. Quality plastics have more give (flexible plastic) and are less brittle. Cheaper plastics easily  crack, chip and are not long lasting. Keep this in mind when you are shopping. We can help you!

Are Washable Filters Really Washable

The manufacturers of bagless vacuums advertise their filters as washable. But are they really? Foam and sponge ones are. However you need to be sure they are thoroughly washed and completely dry. A sunny window does best for drying. In our experience they do not stay effective as a filter after so many washes and need to be replaced. The reason why is that  powder type dirt stays in the filter and build up and do not let optimum air pass through. They also break down and compress with washings.

The pleated HEPA type filters should never be washed and need replacing regularly. At least once a year. Not doing these small maintenance duties will affect any machines performance.

Why You Should By a Quality Vacuum

The Three largest typical expenses are your house, vehicles and your homes flooring. Why should you use an inferior or the wrong type of vacuum on your third largest expense? Not only are you not cleaning and keeping the dirt, dust and dander particles trapped in a well built and filtered vacuum. You are blowing them into your air to breath into your lungs again and again. Vacuums not built to last or filter the best (no matter what the ads tell you) also break down and die easier than quality vacuums. Therefore you are buying in a time span two or three vacuums and spending more than what one quality vacuum would cost. That would still be working and be doing a better job.  Do the math!

Robotic Vacuum Suggestions

The Holiday’s are here and Robotic vacuums sell a great deal at this time. The are cute and conversational. It’s not like getting a real vacuum for Christmas right? Here are a few things you should consider because they are not inexpensive. They are best for bare floors. The brush underneath is a very soft brush. They are surface cleaners on rugs and do not take the place a a full powered vacuum. You should still use your full size vac between the robotics cleanings. The biggest concern for you to consider is that these companies do not put parts out for there machines except Miele. Unless your purchase a Miele robotic that means no service, batteries, chargers, testing, parts of any kind are available. This is the choice of the companies that manufacture them not ours. Unless  you purchase a German Miele. Then you will be happy because you will have after purchase service that you do not have to send away to a company for.

Beware Dirty Air

Bagless vacuum filters are meant to be regularly cleaned and changed.  In fact changed is best. As soon as you turn on the machine all dust, dirt, mold, dander and debris collect in the container and then what is left over passes through the filters immediately starting to clog them up. Of course a huge amount of fine particles don’t even make it through these filters. They go right through the vacuums seams and into your lungs.

My point is–If you are not going to keep the filters clean you might as well put your face in the dust bin and take a deep breath. Not healthy is it? Neither is a bagless.
